Baby CAH-tuh

Oh, my poor second baby who never gets any blog time!

Now I completely understand the plight of the second child who never gets any photo recognition. I always thought, however, that it was because the novelty had worn off for the parents, and the little things seemed less special for the parents by child #2. NOT TRUE! The little things are still sweet, special, beautiful, fun, and such a blessing. With the addition of another little one I just don't have any time to take the pics of those moments, and even less time to post them on the blog.

That said, here is a long over-due post about our littlest, who Blake calls "Baby CAH tuh." We love you Baby Carter.

This is one cute kiddo. I think the most telling fact is how his big brother reacts to Carter. Sometimes when Carter is having a particularly cute moment Blake just runs over to him and says "kiss him!" (and proceeds to plant a slobery kiss on Carter's forehead). Sometimes I find evidence of kisses that I didn't even know he had planted. And almost always, when he is in within kissing range of Carter's toes, Blake will kiss those baby toes. But enough words - see the cuteness for yourself!

I was hoping to write a post celebrating a completely healthy, thriving Carter. He is thriving - at 2 months he weighed as much as Blake did at 5! However, after taking Elecare for almost two months and finally getting the reflux managed with Pepcid, Carter still has some tummy troubles. The latest is the GI specialist thinks he has a c. diff bacterial infection in his colon and intestines, which we are treating with a pro-biotic after Carter reacted badly to the initial anti-biotic. He seems to be doing better (less diarrhea, fewer mucusy stools) but today he threw up nearly an entire bottle which I don't quite understand. Perhaps it is unrelated, but I am hopeful he is on his way to 100% healthy.

Carter is proving to be very vocal. He giggles with minimal provocation, and talks to himself happily in his bouncy chair with or without an audience (always prefers an audience, however).

Right now our schedule is that Carter wakes up around 7am (or 5am or 6 am) and Blake wakes up around 8am, so I get at least a little uninterrupted time with Cah-tuh. But it is also sweet to spend time together with my  boys, so show Blake how Carter watches him, for Blake to laugh when I make Carter laugh. I love my little men. I am very blessed.

Apple picking!

We decided to take Blake apple picking today. I was really surprised that he was so delighted to pick the apples off the trees and run around playing hide and go seek with Daddy.

Look at this face!

You wouldn't know I had mom and dad up all night because of my tummy troubles, would ya?

This is a test...

Of a snazzy new iPhone app I found. Let's see how it works!

I am attempting to "blog" from my phone. I may never need to use my computer again!

Here is Blake jamming with his guitar as he rides the elevator at Mom Mom's condo in Ocean City. Don't leave home without it!

And here Blake is in the "big sandbox" (aka "beach") having a snack. He is so cute it hurts!

And we have been so blessed at how Blake obeyed us while we were on vacation, waiting patiently at restaurants, not complaining when we told him we were all done with rides, and countless other little things that made the time with him such a delight.

For example, I bought Blake two truck sand toys at end of season boardwalk sales and Blake thanked me multiple times ("THANK YOU Mommy!") without even being coached. Im sure he wont always be so grateful, but it sure is a blessing when he is!

We love you SO MUCH big boy!

Blake in "Big Church"

The other Sunday we missed the memo that there wouldn't be child care in the second service. So, to Blake's delight, he got to sit in "big church" with Mommy and Daddy. He did really well during the message - I was shocked. But a true highlight was watching him worship with us! I'm grateful there were a couple extra chairs in front of us - it allowed our wiggly toddler to have a little more freedom than he might have normally.

We didn't teach him to raise his hands, honest. He just saw other people doing it and I guess he figured it was the right thing to do! I must confess, I wasn't focusing on my own worship as much as I should have been, but MAN, isn't he cute!?
