We took Blake to the allergist today to try to isolate his food issues a little better. After a skin prick test (which Blake didn't even seem to notice) the doctor concluded that Blake has NO "true" allergies. She tested a number of foods, including milk, soy, peanuts, fish, and shellfish, and other environmental allergies (mold, dust mites and a few others) but everything came out negative. Wuhoo!
This may seem a little confusing, but basically that means that Blake's issue with milk and soy is just a "tolerance" (digestive) issue. She said the good news is he will most likely grow out of his intolerances. The bad news is we just need to try the foods every couple of months to determine if/when he can handle it.
The doctor encouraged me to go ahead and try giving him anything, peanuts and seafood included. So today at lunch Blake got his first taste of peanut butter. First I put it on some bread, and he loved it. Then I let him lick my finger, and he LOVED it. Finally I just let him have the spoon. Here are some great pics of my sticky, happy baby.
Wow, what IS this stuff?
