Wake-Up Routine

We love going in to get Blake when he wakes up! First we are greeted by big smiles (which I've had a hard time capturing since the room is typically dark when he wakes up and the camera's "pre-flash" startles him and the smile temporarily disappears). Even if he has been crying our shouting to get our attention, the tears dissolve and the grin appears as soon as we go in his room. It melts our heart! (Here is a smile, but with eyes closed because of the flash; he really was awake.)

Next we open up his swaddle, one side at a time. Again, I haven't done a great job capturing this, but first the left arm pops up (the first arm that is freed from the swaddle), then the right arm pops up.

We call it his "field goal" stretch. (Here we've brought him out of the infant carrier right after a nap, still swaddled, just for the sake of getting some good pics.)

And then he makes a little scrunchie face and arches his back to finish it off.

Ahhh, another nice nap is over! (Is he cute or WHAT?)

Also hard to capture in photos are his little (and not so little) noises. Blake has been gabbering up a storm, and recently he has been shouting, too. Usually they are happy shouts and squeels.

I'd appreciate continued prayers for his reflux. Our pediatrician has finally decided to recommend we see a pediatric GI specialist - the medication we have been giving him doesn't seem to be as effective any more, and his reflux doesn't seem to be improving with age as we hoped (actually, it seems to be getting worse at times). Christmas Eve and Christmas day were very challenging, and I didn't know how we were going to be able to wait the 3 weeks until our appt with the specialist, but the last few days have been better which is a huge answer to prayer. I need to continue to remember that God is good and he is sovereign over this - even though we don't know what is going on, or how to help the little boy, God is still in control and loves our little boy even more than we do.

Another cute pic, just because he is so fun to look at!

We love him so much. God is so generous to us through this little boy!
